This was a routine “city tour” flight on a perfect fall day.
The CloudAhoy app is great – this was my first time using it and it worked very well.
You can do a quick 2D debrief on the iPad directly after the flight, or you can log in from your computer later and use the Google Earth plug in for amazingly detailed 3D review.
I flew a bit of a rounded base leg to follow a Dash-8 and stay behind, and flew a steep approach to remain above his wake.
I have started IFR training and CloudAhoy will be very handy for detailed post flight analysis.
I’ll be posting a video soon detailing what inspired me to start IFR training after all these years…
(hint: it was a bit of a scary VFR into IMC situation, and I have some good GoPro footage of it, illustrating how I found myself in the situation.)
Personally, unless I have wings, I’m afraid of high places and “edges” so it’s not for me, but if you want to try the “Edge Walk” which is what those crazy guys are doing on top of the CN Tower, here’s the link:
DISCLAIMER: I am a “weekend warrior” private pilot, I fly for fun with no intentions of going commercial.I have had my PPL for over 15 years, but still consider each flight a learning experience – I generally take detailed notes after each flight to remind myself what went well or what I could do to improve…. Having the GoPro cameras to record flights like this is invaluable. I find these self analysis videos very helpful in my constant quest to improve, and am happy to share.Feed back is invited; however, please keep it positive
