It was emotional to feel my grandfather’s presence as I solo’d this thing!
Almost to the day of the 5th anniversary of this crazy “Flight Chops” thing, I was solo in the T6 / Harvard. This is a goal I set nearly 20 years ago, but honestly wasn’t sure would be achievable for many obvious reasons – access being one, but also the work it took as a pilot to get this point.
It is rewarding to be able to share the process of getting here.
Both a huge aviation milestone, and a massive step in a larger personal journey to get checked out in a Spitfire to honour my grandfather who flew them in WWII.
