Can’t wait to hear which one of you gets the panel, and how you set it up!
In this episode, Flight Chops does a deep dive into the world of custom home flight simulation and is blown away by how realistic the experience is. During the end-to-end setup process of building this next level IFR Home Simulator, which anyone can replicate, all the steps are covered:
-Build Tower PC
-Home Office set up
-Tabletop Avionics Panel / Avionics / Components
-Display / Simulator
-ATC Environment immersion (with PilotEdge)
There is also bonus footage woven throughout the episode from Steve’s talk at Flight Sim Expo 2019 where he joins Keith Smith (CEO and Founder of Pilot Edge) and Jason Miller (The Finer Points of Flying) to discuss the role of home flight simulators in real-world flight training.
Flight Simulation partners I couldn’t have done this without:
Stay Level Avionix
RealSimGear
PilotEdge
And of course Flight Sim Expo!
We’re giving away a Home Flight Simulator!

I am a “weekend warrior” private pilot, I fly for fun with no intentions of going commercial. I have had my PPL for over 15 years, but still consider each flight a learning experience – I generally take detailed notes after each flight to remind myself what went well or what I could do to improve…. Having the GoPro cameras to record flights like this is invaluable. I find these self analysis videos very helpful in my constant quest to improve, and am happy to share.
Feedback is invited; however, please keep it positive.
I am building a similar setup and am using Logitech equip. I notice you are using the switch panel. I have not been able to get mine to be recognized by X-plane. Where did you find the drivers to set yours up?
My daughter has an interest in being a pilot, i’ve been looking at your set up as a baseline for me to buy. I have some questions about the computer since i would like it to run a racing sim for me and my son. Can you connect me with your computer builder.
i absolutely love your channel!! Especially when you fly the vintage stuff. i was involved with a group in Kansas City for many years , flying and maintaining a Lockheed L1049H Super Constellation, and it truly was an experience of a lifetime! Keep up the great work!
Thank you Vic! We appreciate the support! 🙂
What simulator software did you guys use?
